Johann Olav Koss
Johann Olav Koss (born 29 October 1968) is a Norwegian former speed skater and a prominent philanthropist. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest speed skaters of all time, having won multiple Olympic gold medals and set several world records during his career.

Koss was born in Drammen, Norway. He grew up in Asker, where he began speed skating at a young age. His early talent in the sport was evident, and he quickly rose through the ranks of Norwegian speed skating.
Speed Skating Career[edit | edit source]
Koss made his international debut in the late 1980s. He competed in his first Winter Olympics in Calgary in 1988, where he finished 9th in the 5000 meters. His breakthrough came at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where he won a gold medal in the 1500 meters and a silver medal in the 10,000 meters.
Koss's most remarkable achievements came during the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. He won three gold medals in the 1500 meters, 5000 meters, and 10,000 meters, setting world records in each event. His performance at the Lillehammer Olympics is considered one of the greatest in the history of the Winter Games.
