University of Queensland

The University of Queensland (UQ) is a public research university located in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1909, it is one of the leading universities in Australia and is recognized globally for its outstanding teaching and research. The university is a member of the prestigious Group of Eight, a coalition of Australia's leading research-intensive universities.

The University of Queensland was established on December 10, 1909, with the passage of the University Act by the Queensland Parliament. Classes commenced in 1911 with a total enrollment of 83 students. The university's first campus was located in George Street, Brisbane. Over the years, UQ has expanded significantly and now has multiple campuses across Queensland, including its main campus in St Lucia, which is renowned for its picturesque riverside setting and iconic sandstone architecture.
