Jon Gerrard is a Canadian politician and physician. He has been a prominent figure in Manitoba politics and has served in various capacities both in the provincial government and in the medical field.

Jon Gerrard was born on October 13, 1947, in Oxford, England. He moved to Canada with his family at a young age. Gerrard completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He then pursued a medical degree at University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

After completing his medical degree, Gerrard specialized in pediatrics and became a respected physician. He worked at the Children's Hospital of Winnipeg and was involved in various medical research projects. Gerrard has published numerous papers in the field of pediatrics and has been recognized for his contributions to child health.

Jon Gerrard entered politics in the early 1990s. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Portage—Interlake in the House of Commons of Canada in the 1993 federal election, representing the Liberal Party of Canada. During his time in federal politics, he served as the Secretary of State for Science, Research and Development from 1997 to 2000.

In 1999, Gerrard transitioned to provincial politics and became the leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party. He was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for River Heights in the 1999 provincial election. Gerrard served as the leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party until 2013. During his tenure, he was known for advocating for healthcare reform, education, and environmental issues.
