Jonathan LaPaglia (born 31 August 1969) is an Australian actor and physician. He is best known for his roles in the television series Seven Days, The District, and Love Child. He is also the host of the Australian version of Australian Survivor.
Early life[edit | edit source]
LaPaglia was born in Adelaide, South Australia, to Maria Johannes (née Brendel) and Eddie LaPaglia. His father is a mechanic and car dealer, and his mother is a secretary. He is the youngest of three sons; his older brothers are Anthony LaPaglia, an actor, and Michael LaPaglia, a car wholesaler.
Education[edit | edit source]
LaPaglia attended Rostrevor College and later graduated from the University of Adelaide with a degree in medicine. He worked as an emergency physician in Adelaide, Sydney, and London before deciding to pursue a career in acting.
Acting career[edit | edit source]
LaPaglia moved to New York City in 1994 to study acting at the Circle in the Square Theatre School. He made his television debut in 1996 with a guest role on the series New York Undercover. He gained recognition for his role as Frank Parker in the science fiction series Seven Days from 1998 to 2001.
From 2001 to 2004, LaPaglia starred as Detective Kevin Debreno in the crime drama series The District. He also appeared in the medical drama Windfall and the Australian drama series Love Child.
In 2016, LaPaglia became the host of the Australian version of the reality television series Australian Survivor, which has brought him significant recognition in Australia.

LaPaglia is married to Ursula Brooks, an actress and writer. The couple has one child. They reside in Santa Monica, California.
