Early Life and Education[edit]

After completing his medical education, Fabella dedicated his career to improving public health in the Philippines. He worked in various capacities within the Department of Health, where he focused on maternal and child health, as well as social welfare programs.
Establishment of Fabella Memorial Hospital[edit]
One of Fabella's most notable achievements was the establishment of the Dr. José Fabella Memorial Hospital in 1920. The hospital, located in Santa Cruz, Manila, was initially founded as a maternity clinic to address the high maternal and infant mortality rates in the country. Over the years, it expanded its services and became a leading institution for maternal and child health care in the Philippines.

His efforts included the promotion of prenatal care, vaccination programs, and the establishment of rural health units.
