Justerini & Brooks is a wine and spirits merchant founded in London in 1749. The company is best known for its blended Scotch whisky, J&B Rare, which is one of the world's most popular Scotch whiskies.

History[edit | edit source]

Justerini & Brooks was established by Giovanni Giacomo Justerini, an Italian distiller from Bologna, and George Johnson, a British wine merchant. Justerini had come to London to pursue a singer he had fallen in love with, but when his romantic endeavors failed, he decided to stay and start a business. The company initially focused on importing and selling wine and spirits.

In 1831, the business was acquired by Alfred Brooks, who added his name to the company, creating the brand Justerini & Brooks. Under Brooks' leadership, the company expanded its product range and began to gain a reputation for high-quality blended Scotch whisky.

J&B Rare[edit | edit source]

J&B Rare is the flagship product of Justerini & Brooks. It is a blend of 42 different malt and grain whiskies, with a significant proportion coming from the Speyside region of Scotland. The blend is known for its smooth and balanced flavor, making it a popular choice for both casual drinkers and connoisseurs.
