Kasigluk

Kasigluk is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Bethel Census Area, Alaska, United States. At the 2010 census, the population was 569, up from 543 in 2000. Kasigluk consists of two smaller villages, called Akiuk and Akula.

(60.896899, -162.526053). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.5 square miles (32 km2), all of it land.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the census of 2000, there were 543 people, 109 households, and 94 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 43.5 people per square mile (16.8/km²). There were 120 housing units at an average density of 9.6/sq mi (3.7/km²).

Healthcare[edit | edit source]

Kasigluk is served by a Village Clinic and the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation. The clinic is an accredited Primary Care facility, which handles emergency cases. It is staffed by a combination of Health Aides and itinerant Public Health Nurses who make regular visits. The nearest hospitals are in Bethel and Anchorage.

Education[edit | edit source]

The community is served by the Kasigluk-Akiuk Memorial School and the Kasigluk-Akula Elitnaurvik School, both operated by the Lower Kuskokwim School District.
