Katherine O. Musgrave

Katherine O. Musgrave (September 1, 1920 – June 20, 2015) was an American dietitian, nutritionist, and educator. She was a prominent figure in the field of nutrition and dietetics, known for her extensive work in nutrition education and public health.

Katherine O. Musgrave was born on September 1, 1920, in Waltham, Massachusetts. She earned her bachelor's degree in home economics from Framingham State University in 1941. Musgrave later pursued a master's degree in nutrition from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. in food science from Pennsylvania State University.

Musgrave began her career as a home economics teacher before transitioning into the field of nutrition. She joined the faculty of the University of Maine in 1969, where she worked as a professor of food science and human nutrition until her retirement in 1986. Even after her retirement, Musgrave continued to teach and mentor students as a professor emerita.

Throughout her career, Musgrave was dedicated to improving public health through nutrition education. She was involved in numerous community outreach programs and worked to promote healthy eating habits among various populations. Musgrave was also a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on nutrition and public health.
