Kemalpaşa
Kemalpa?a is a large town and the center of the district of the same name in Izmir Province, Turkey. Its district area extends immediately to the east of Izmir's easternmost metropolitan district, Bornova, and Kemalpa?a town being at a distance of only 29 km from the historical and traditional center of Izmir (Konak), it pulsates along with the rhythm of the big city, with corresponding high levels of development in terms of industry and services.
History[edit | edit source]
Kemalpa?a was previously known as Nif until 1934, when it was renamed in honor of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey. The history of settlement in the region is known to date back to 5,000 years ago, and the area was under the rule of the Hittites, Phrygians, Lydia, Persia, Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire, Seljuk Turks, and the Ottoman Empire.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Kemalpa?a is based on a mix of industry, agriculture and services. The organized industrial zone of Kemalpa?a is one of the largest in Turkey and hosts many factories, notably those producing food and beverages, plastic and paper products. The region is also famous for its vineyards and orchards; Kemalpa?a is particularly renowned for its peaches.
Kemalpa?a dessert[edit | edit source]
One of the most famous products of Kemalpa?a is the traditional Turkish dessert named after the town, the Kemalpa?a dessert. This is a type of cheese dessert soaked in syrup, made from a special curd cheese that can only be produced in this area due to the unique flora and natural environment.
Education[edit | edit source]
Kemalpa?a is home to several primary and secondary schools, as well as being in close proximity to some of the most prestigious universities in Turkey, such as the Ege University and the Dokuz Eylül University, both located in Izmir.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
Kemalpa?a is well connected to other parts of Turkey through a network of well-maintained roads. The town is also served by the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, which is approximately 40 km away.
