Persia
Persia (also known as Iran) is a historical region located in the western part of the Asian continent. The name "Persia" was used by the West to refer to the region until 1935 when it was officially changed to Iran. The region has a rich history that dates back to the Achaemenid Empire, one of the world's first superpowers.

The history of Persia is divided into three main periods: the Achaemenid Empire, the Sassanian Empire, and the Islamic Golden Age.
Achaemenid Empire[edit | edit source]
The Achaemenid Empire, founded by Cyrus the Great, was the first Persian Empire and one of the world's first superpowers. It spanned three continents: Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Sassanian Empire[edit | edit source]
The Sassanian Empire, also known as the Neo-Persian Empire, was the last pre-Islamic Persian Empire. It was recognized as one of the leading world powers alongside its neighboring arch-rival, the Roman Empire and later the Byzantine Empire.
Islamic Golden Age[edit | edit source]
The Islamic Golden Age refers to the period of cultural, economic, and scientific flourishing in the history of the Islamic world, traditionally dated from the 8th century to the 14th century.

Persian culture has had a significant influence on the world, contributing to art, science, and literature. The Persian language, also known as Farsi, is spoken by millions of people worldwide.
