Kenneth Tew


Kenneth Tew is a renowned biomedical scientist and professor known for his significant contributions to the field of pharmacology and oncology. He is currently the Chairman of the Department of Cell and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).

Kenneth Tew was born and raised in the United Kingdom. He completed his undergraduate studies in biochemistry at the University of Hull, followed by a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Aberdeen.

Career[edit | edit source]

After completing his education, Tew moved to the United States where he began his career in biomedical research. He has held several prestigious positions in academia, including professorships at the University of Texas and the University of Vermont. In 2003, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Department of Cell and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at MUSC.

Tew's research primarily focuses on the role of glutathione in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of how glutathione affects the function of white blood cells and the development of cancer. His work has led to the development of several new cancer therapies.

Tew has received numerous awards and recognition for his work, including the American Association for Cancer Research's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cancer Research. He is also a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
