From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellnesspedia

Khanom Tokyo is a type of Thai dessert that originated from Japan. It is a popular street food in Thailand and is made from a thin pancake filled with various fillings. The name "Khanom Tokyo" translates to "Tokyo dessert" in English.

History[edit | edit source]

The dessert was introduced to Thailand around the time of the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, hence the name. It was initially sold in front of schools and has since become a popular street food across the country.

Preparation[edit | edit source]

Khanom Tokyo is made by pouring a thin batter onto a flat, round hot plate. The batter is spread evenly over the surface and cooked until it is lightly browned. The pancake is then filled with a variety of fillings, which can include sweet or savory ingredients. Sweet fillings often include custard or coconut jam, while savory fillings can include minced pork or sausage.

Variations[edit | edit source]

There are many variations of Khanom Tokyo, depending on the fillings used. Some popular variations include Khanom Tokyo with green onion, Khanom Tokyo with egg, and Khanom Tokyo with taro.
