Kjell N. Lindgren

Kjell N. Lindgren is an American astronaut and physician who was selected by NASA in 2009. He is known for his contributions to the field of space exploration and medicine.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Kjell N. Lindgren was born on January 23, 1973, in Taipei, Taiwan. He moved to the United States at a young age and grew up in the state of Virginia. Lindgren received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the United States Air Force Academy in 1995. He then went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Cardiovascular Physiology from Colorado State University (CSU) in 1996 and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado in 2002.

Career[edit | edit source]

After completing his education, Lindgren served as a flight surgeon for NASA before he was selected as part of the 20th NASA astronaut class in June 2009. He completed astronaut candidate training in 2011.

In 2015, Lindgren served on Expedition 44 and Expedition 45 to the International Space Station (ISS). During his time on the ISS, he conducted numerous scientific research experiments and performed two spacewalks.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Lindgren is married and has three children. He enjoys running, reading, movies, photography, and spending time with his family.

Awards and Honors[edit | edit source]

Lindgren has received several awards and honors for his contributions to space exploration and medicine. These include the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal, the NASA Space Flight Medal, and the NASA Distinguished Service Medal.
