Lancaster County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 96,016. Its county seat is Lancaster. The county was created in 1785.

Lancaster County was formed in 1785 as part of the Camden District. It was named after Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which was named after Lancaster, England. The area was originally inhabited by the Catawba and other indigenous peoples.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 555 square miles (1,440 km²), of which 549 square miles (1,420 km²) is land and 6.0 square miles (16 km²) (1.1%) is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 96,016 people, 35,480 households, and 25,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 175 people per square mile (68/km²).

Lancaster County is governed by a county council consisting of seven members elected from single-member districts. The county is part of South Carolina's 5th congressional district.
