Larestan

Larestan is a county in Fars Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Lar. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 223,235, in 45,356 families. The county is subdivided into four districts: the Central District, Beyram District, Banaruiyeh District, and Evan District. The county has twelve cities: Lar, Latifi, Banaruiyeh, Beyram, Khur, Evan, Fishvar, Juyom, Khanj, Bishapur, Emad Deh, and Bashash.

Larestan was historically a significant region, with its own language and culture. The Larestani people were merchants who travelled extensively across the Middle East and Asia, bringing wealth and prosperity to their homeland. Today, many Larestanis continue to travel for trade, but the region itself is considered less significant than it was in the past.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Larestan is located in the south of Iran, in Fars Province. It is surrounded by the Persian Gulf to the south, Hormozgan Province to the east, Firuzabad, Fars and Farashband to the north, and Lamerd and Khonj to the west.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The economy of Larestan is primarily based on agriculture, with dates and citrus fruits being the main crops. The region also has significant reserves of oil and gas, which contribute to its economy.

Culture[edit | edit source]

The Larestani people have their own distinct culture and language, known as Lari. They are known for their traditional music and dance, as well as their unique architectural style, which can be seen in the many historic buildings and structures in the region.
