List of ICD-10 codes
International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) is a coding system used worldwide to classify diseases, signs and symptoms, abnormal findings, complaints, social circumstances, and external causes of injury or diseases. Developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), it serves a variety of healthcare-related purposes such as recording morbidity and mortality statistics, reimbursement systems, and automated decision support in medicine. This article provides an overview of the structure and the list of ICD-10 codes.
Structure[edit | edit source]
The ICD-10 is divided into chapters based on the type of disease or condition. Each chapter is further subdivided into blocks of related conditions, which are then broken down into specific codes representing particular diagnoses. Codes within the ICD-10 are denoted by a letter followed by three or more digits, with a decimal point used after the third character in some instances.
