  • William Boog Leishman - A Scottish pathologist and a general in the British Army, who discovered the protozoan parasite Leishmania, responsible for the disease leishmaniasis, while serving in the IMS.
  • Charles Donovan - An Irish physician and officer in the IMS, Donovan is credited with the discovery of the parasite causing visceral leishmaniasis, also known as kala-azar.
