Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center is a hospital located in Torrance, California. It was founded in 1960 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary and is part of the Providence Health & Services system.
In 2020, the hospital was found negligent in a case involving the death of a patient due to feeding tubes being placed in the lungs instead of the stomach. The hospital was accused of engaging in a cover-up of the cause of death. The California Department of Public Health investigated the incident and found the nurse involved to be lacking in documented competency. The hospital was ordered to pay $1.5 million in non-economic damages to the patient's surviving spouse.
