Established in 1911, SCUHS is dedicated to providing education in the field of health sciences. The university offers a wide range of programs in chiropractic medicine, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and other related health disciplines.

History[edit | edit source]

SCUHS was originally founded as the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC) in 1911. It was one of the first chiropractic colleges in the United States. Over the years, the college expanded its programs and curriculum to include other health sciences disciplines. In 2011, the institution changed its name to Southern California University of Health Sciences to better reflect its diverse academic offerings.

Academic Programs[edit | edit source]

SCUHS offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in health sciences. The university's flagship program is the Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) program, which prepares students for a career in chiropractic medicine. The D.C. program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the musculoskeletal system and its relationship to overall health and wellness.

In addition to the D.C. program, SCUHS offers a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM) program. This program combines traditional Chinese medicine with modern scientific principles to provide students with a holistic approach to healthcare. Students in the MAOM program learn acupuncture, herbal medicine, and other traditional healing techniques.

SCUHS also offers a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences program, which provides a strong foundation in the basic sciences for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The university also offers various certificate programs and continuing education courses for healthcare professionals looking to expand their knowledge and skills.

Campus[edit | edit source]

The SCUHS campus is located in Whittier, California, approximately 20 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, and a health center.
