Geography[edit | edit source]

Macedonia is a landlocked region that is characterized by its mountainous terrain. The region is bordered by the Rhodope Mountains to the east, the Pindus Mountains to the west, the Olympus Mountains to the south, and the Shar Mountains to the north. The region is also home to several major lakes, including Lake Ohrid, Lake Prespa, and Lake Dojran.

The history of Macedonia dates back to ancient times. The region was home to the ancient kingdom of Macedon, which was ruled by the Argead Dynasty. The most famous ruler of this dynasty was Alexander the Great, who expanded the kingdom to become one of the largest empires in the world.

In the Middle Ages, Macedonia was ruled by the Byzantine Empire, and later by the Ottoman Empire. In the 20th century, the region was divided among several countries following the Balkan Wars and the Treaty of Bucharest.

Culture[edit | edit source]
