Mado (food company)
Mado is a renowned food company and ice cream brand based in Turkey. The company's history dates back to 1850, making it one of the oldest existing food companies in the country. Mado's name is derived from two Turkish words: "Maraş", the former name of the city where the company was founded, and "Dondurma", which means ice cream in Turkish.
History[edit | edit source]
Mado was established in 1850 in the city of Kahramanmaraş, Turkey. The company started as a small ice cream shop and gradually expanded its operations over the years. Mado's ice cream is known for its unique texture and flavor, which is attributed to the use of goat milk and a plant-based thickening agent called salep.
Products[edit | edit source]
Mado offers a wide range of products, including ice creams, pastries, and beverages. The company is best known for its traditional Turkish ice cream, which is characterized by its elasticity and resistance to melting. Other popular products include baklava, Turkish delight, and a variety of traditional Turkish pastries.
Expansion and Growth[edit | edit source]
Over the years, Mado has expanded its operations beyond Turkey. The company currently operates in over 50 countries worldwide, with more than 300 stores in Turkey and 250 stores internationally. Mado's international expansion has played a significant role in promoting Turkish cuisine and culture globally.
Recognition[edit | edit source]
Mado has received numerous awards and recognitions for its contributions to the food industry. The company was awarded the Superbrands award in 2015 and 2016, recognizing its status as a leading brand in the Turkish food industry.
