The Magnolia Hotshots are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The team is one of the most successful franchises in the league, having won a total of 14 championships. The team is owned by San Miguel Corporation, one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines.

The team was founded in 1988 as the Purefoods Hotdogs. Over the years, the team has undergone several name changes due to sponsorship deals and rebranding efforts. The franchise has been known as the Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs, B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados, San Mig Coffee Mixers, and Star Hotshots before adopting the current name, Magnolia Hotshots, in 2017.
Early Years[edit | edit source]
The Purefoods franchise quickly established itself as a competitive team in the PBA. In their debut season, they reached the finals of the All-Filipino Conference. The team won its first championship in 1990, defeating the Alaska Milkmen in the Third Conference.
The Grand Slam Era[edit | edit source]
One of the most notable periods in the team's history was the "Grand Slam" season in 2013-2014, when the team, then known as the San Mig Coffee Mixers, won all three conference championships in a single season. This achievement was led by coach Tim Cone and key players such as James Yap and Mark Barroca.

In 2017, the team was rebranded as the Magnolia Hotshots. Under this new identity, the team continued to be a strong contender in the league, winning the 2018 PBA Governors' Cup.
