- Marathon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2010 census, the population was 134,063. Its county seat is Wausau. It was founded in 1850, carved out of Portage County. The county is named after the battlefield at Marathon, Greece.

- Marathon County is the largest county in Wisconsin by land area. It is located in the north-central part of the state, and its county seat, Wausau, is roughly in the center of the county.

- As of the 2010 census, there were 134,063 people, 53,722 households, and 36,831 families residing in the county. The population density was 74.9 inhabitants per square mile.
