Marlin is a type of fish that belongs to the family Istiophoridae. They are known for their elongated bodies, a spear-like snout or bill, and a long, rigid dorsal fin which extends forward to form a crest. Marlins are among the fastest fish, but speeds are often wildly exaggerated in popular media, such as reports of 132 km/h (82 mph).
