Matt's Bar
Matt's Bar is a popular bar and restaurant located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It is renowned for its signature dish, the Jucy Lucy, a cheese-stuffed hamburger.
History[edit | edit source]
Matt Bristol, the original owner, established Matt's Bar in 1954. The bar is famous for its invention of the Jucy Lucy, a cheese-stuffed hamburger, which has become a staple of Minneapolis cuisine. The bar's motto, "Fear the Cheese", is a playful warning about the hot, melted cheese inside the burger.
Jucy Lucy[edit | edit source]
The Jucy Lucy is a cheeseburger with the cheese inside the meat instead of on top. The creation of the Jucy Lucy has been a subject of dispute, with another local establishment, the 5-8 Club, also claiming to be the original inventor. However, Matt's Bar is widely recognized as the birthplace of the Jucy Lucy.
Recognition[edit | edit source]
Matt's Bar has received numerous accolades for its Jucy Lucy. It has been featured on several national television shows, including Man v. Food and Food Wars. In 2014, it was visited by President Barack Obama, further cementing its status as a Minneapolis landmark.
