Max Wilms

Max Wilms was a German surgeon and pathologist known for his significant contributions to the field of oncology. He was born on December 5, 1867, in Hanover, Germany, and passed away on November 14, 1918.

Wilms studied medicine at the University of Leipzig and later pursued his interest in pathology at the University of Berlin. He completed his medical degree in 1890 and began his career as a physician.

Wilms made a groundbreaking discovery in 1899 when he identified a type of kidney cancer that predominantly affects children, now known as Wilms tumor.
