Medical volunteerism

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Medical volunteerism refers to the practice of medical professionals volunteering their time and skills to provide medical care in underserved or disaster-stricken areas. This can include providing medical care in developing countries, responding to natural disasters, or working in refugee camps. Medical volunteerism is an important way to provide access to healthcare for individuals who may not otherwise have access, and it can also provide an opportunity for medical professionals to gain valuable experience and skills.
