Michael D. Lockshin

Michael D. Lockshin is an American rheumatologist and professor known for his contributions to the field of autoimmune diseases. He has made significant advancements in the understanding and treatment of lupus and other autoimmune disorders.

Michael D. Lockshin was born in New York City. He attended Harvard University, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He then went on to receive his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Following his graduation, Lockshin completed his residency in internal medicine at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

Lockshin began his career as a rheumatologist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he conducted groundbreaking research on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). He later joined the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he currently serves as a professor of medicine.
