Putin Lesin

Mikhail Lesin (July 11, 1958 – November 5, 2015) was a Russian political figure, media executive, and advisor to the President of Russia. He played a significant role in the development of the Russian media landscape and was instrumental in the creation of the RT television network.

Mikhail Lesin was born on July 11, 1958, in Moscow, RSFSR, Soviet Union. He graduated from the Moscow Engineering and Construction Institute with a degree in civil engineering.

Lesin began his career in the media industry in the early 1990s. He co-founded the advertising company Video International, which became one of the largest advertising firms in Russia.

Minister of Press, Broadcasting and Mass Communications[edit | edit source]

From 1999 to 2004, Lesin served as the Minister of Press, Broadcasting and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation. During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing the media industry and implementing policies to regulate and develop the sector.

Advisor to the President[edit | edit source]

Lesin served as an advisor to President Vladimir Putin on media affairs. He was known for his efforts to consolidate state control over the media and for his role in the establishment of the RT television network, which aimed to present Russia's perspective on global events.

Gazprom-Media[edit | edit source]

In 2013, Lesin was appointed as the head of Gazprom-Media, one of the largest media holding companies in Russia. He held this position until January 2015.

Death[edit | edit source]

Mikhail Lesin was found dead in his hotel room in Washington, D.C., on November 5, 2015. The official cause of death was reported as blunt force injuries to the head, but the circumstances surrounding his death have been the subject of much speculation and controversy.
