Mister Terrific (Michael Holt)
Mister Terrific (Michael Holt) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake, the character first appeared in Spectre (vol. 3) #54 (June 1997). Michael Holt is the second character to take up the Mister Terrific mantle, succeeding the Golden Age hero Terry Sloane.

Michael Holt is an exceptionally intelligent character, with a natural aptitude in a wide range of sciences and technologies. He is described as having "a natural aptitude for having natural aptitudes," excelling in physical and mental challenges. After the tragic death of his wife and unborn child, Holt seeks to end his life but is stopped by the Spectre, who inspires him to adopt the Mister Terrific persona and use his talents for the greater good.
Character Biography[edit | edit source]
Michael Holt is a self-made millionaire and the third smartest man in the world, holding 14 Ph.Ds. in various disciplines, including engineering, physics, and law. He is also an Olympic-level athlete and a master martial artist. After the death of his wife and unborn child, Holt is inspired by the original Mister Terrific, Terry Sloane, and takes on the mantle to fight crime and injustice. As Mister Terrific, Holt has no superpowers but uses his intellect, physical prowess, and an array of advanced technology, including the T-Spheres, floating robotic spheres that serve as his eyes and ears all over the world, and can project holograms, create laser grids, and explode on command.

Mister Terrific's primary assets are his extraordinary intelligence and physical abilities. He is also an expert in martial arts and an Olympic-level athlete. His T-Spheres are a key component of his arsenal, providing offensive and defensive capabilities, as well as surveillance and information gathering. Holt also possesses "invisible" technology that renders him undetectable to electronic detection systems, though he remains visible to the naked eye.

Mister Terrific has appeared in various DC Comics media, including animated series and video games. Notably, he has been featured in the television series Arrow, where he is portrayed by Echo Kellum. This version of the character, Curtis Holt, is an inventor and member of Team Arrow, who adopts the Mister Terrific persona to fight crime in Star City.
