Moeenuddin Ahmad Qureshi (June 26, 1930 – November 22, 2016) was a Pakistani economist and civil servant who served as the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan from July 18, 1993, to October 19, 1993. He was also the Caretaker Finance Minister of Pakistan during the same period.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Moeenuddin Ahmad Qureshi was born on June 26, 1930, in Lahore, British India (now in Pakistan). He completed his early education in Lahore and later attended the Government College University in Lahore. He then went on to pursue higher education at the University of Punjab, where he earned a degree in economics. Qureshi furthered his studies in the United States, obtaining a Ph.D. in economics from Indiana University.

Qureshi began his career in the Civil Services of Pakistan and held various positions in the government. He later joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, where he held several key positions, including Senior Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer.

In 1993, Moeenuddin Ahmad Qureshi was appointed as the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan following the resignation of Nawaz Sharif.
