Mohan Agashe

Mohan Agashe is an Indian psychiatrist and actor. He is best known for his work in Marathi theatre, Bollywood films, and international cinema. Agashe began his career in acting during his psychiatry residency and has since balanced both professions.

Agashe was born on 23 July 1947 in Bhor, British India. He completed his secondary education at B.J. Medical College, Pune, where he also received his degree in psychiatry.

Psychiatry[edit | edit source]

Agashe has made significant contributions to the field of psychiatry in India. He served as the Director of the Maharashtra Institute of Mental Health from 1991 to 1996 and the Maharashtra Institute of Psychiatry from 1996 to 1998. He has also been a consultant to the World Health Organization and the Government of Maharashtra.

Agashe's acting career began in the 1970s with his involvement in Marathi theatre. He has since acted in over 50 films in Hindi, Marathi, and English. Some of his notable works include Gandhi, Mississippi Masala, and The Making of the Mahatma.

Agashe has received several awards for his contributions to psychiatry and cinema. These include the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his work in Marathi theatre and the Padma Shri for his contributions to Indian cinema.
