Mohan Meakin is a large group of companies in India that initially started as a brewery in 1855. The company has a rich history and has diversified into various industries over the years.

Mohan Meakin was established in 1855 by Edward Dyer at Kasauli in the Himalayan Mountains. The company was the first brewery in India and the first to produce Asian-made beer. The brewery was later shifted to nearby Solan due to the availability of better spring water. The Kasauli brewery site was converted to a distillery, which Mohan Meakin continues to operate.

Mohan Meakin's product range includes various types of beer, whisky, rum, vodka, gin, and other spirits. The company's most famous product is Old Monk, a vatted Indian dark rum. Old Monk has been the biggest Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) brand for many years.

Over the years, Mohan Meakin has expanded and diversified into other industries. The company now has interests in various sectors, including malt houses, breakfast food, fruit products, and juices. Mohan Meakin also operates glass factories for manufacturing bottles and other glass products.
Management[edit | edit source]
The management of Mohan Meakin has been in the hands of the Mohan family since the late 1940s. The current chairman and managing director of the company is Kapil Mohan, who has been with the company since 1966.
