Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco, is a country located in the North African region. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, with land borders with Algeria and the disputed territory of Western Sahara. Morocco claims the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara as its Southern Provinces. Morocco's rich culture is a blend of Arab, Berber, European, and African influences.

Morocco has a history that dates back thousands of years. It was originally inhabited by Berbers. Throughout the centuries, Morocco has been a land of cultural synthesis and exchange. The region was influenced by several conquerors including the Phoenicians, Romans, and Byzantines. In the 7th century, Arab forces introduced Islam which has since become the dominant religion.

The Almoravid dynasty and Almohad dynasty were prominent in Moroccan history, establishing strong empires in the region. In the 15th century, the country faced European invasions but remained largely independent. The Saadi dynasty and later the Alaouite dynasty, which still rules today, marked the beginning of modern Morocco.
