Multimodal cancer therapy

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Multimodal cancer therapy is a treatment approach that uses a combination of different therapeutic modalities to fight cancer. These modalities can include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy. The goal of multimodal therapy is to increase the effectiveness of the treatment while minimizing side effects. By using multiple treatment modalities, doctors can target the cancer from different angles and increase the chances of destroying the cancer cells. Depending on the type of cancer, the stage of the disease, and the patient's overall health, the combination of modalities used in multimodal cancer therapy will vary.
