N. Chandrababu Naidu (born 20 April 1950) is an Indian politician and the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is the president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Naidu has played a significant role in the development of the state and has been a prominent figure in Indian politics.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Nara Chandrababu Naidu was born in Naravaripalle, a small village in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. He completed his schooling in his native village and later pursued a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati. He also holds a Master's degree in Economics from the same university.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Naidu began his political career as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). He was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1978 from the Chandragiri constituency. In 1980, he became the youngest minister in the state cabinet, handling the portfolios of Archives and Cinematography.

Telugu Desam Party[edit | edit source]

In 1982, Naidu joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), founded by his father-in-law, N. T. Rama Rao. He played a crucial role in the party's activities and quickly rose through the ranks. In 1995, he led a coup against N. T. Rama Rao and became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh[edit | edit source]

Naidu served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004 and again from 2014 to 2019. During his tenure, he focused on the development of Hyderabad as an Information Technology hub, earning the city the nickname "Cyberabad." He also implemented various reforms in the fields of education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Naidu is credited with transforming Hyderabad into a major IT and business hub. He attracted significant investments from global tech giants like Microsoft, IBM, and Google. His efforts in promoting e-governance and digital initiatives have been widely recognized.

Naidu is married to Bhuvaneswari, the daughter of N. T. Rama Rao. The couple has a son, Nara Lokesh, who is also an active politician and a member of the TDP.

Naidu's political career has not been without controversies. He has faced criticism for his handling of various issues, including the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the subsequent development of the new capital, Amaravati.
