NIAID ChemDB
NIAID ChemDB is a comprehensive, freely accessible database of chemical compounds and biological activities. It is developed and maintained by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the 27 institutes and centers that make up the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Overview[edit | edit source]
The NIAID ChemDB contains information on a wide range of chemical compounds, including small molecules, peptides, and other types of biomolecules. The database is designed to facilitate the discovery and development of new therapeutic agents for a variety of diseases, including infectious diseases, allergies, and autoimmune disorders.
The database includes information on the biological activities of the compounds, such as their antimicrobial, antiviral, and immunomodulatory properties. It also includes data on the compounds' pharmacokinetics, toxicology, and metabolism.
Features[edit | edit source]
The NIAID ChemDB offers a variety of features to assist researchers in their work. These include:
- A user-friendly interface that allows for easy navigation and data retrieval.
- Advanced search capabilities, including the ability to search by chemical structure, biological activity, and other parameters.
- Tools for data analysis and visualization, including chemoinformatics tools and bioinformatics tools.
- Links to other relevant databases and resources, such as the PubChem database and the Protein Data Bank (PDB).
Applications[edit | edit source]
The NIAID ChemDB is used by researchers around the world in a variety of fields, including pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, and biomedical research. It is a valuable resource for those working on the development of new drugs and therapies for infectious diseases, allergies, and autoimmune disorders.
