NM-2-AI

NM-2-AI, also known as N-Methyl-2-aminoindane, is a psychoactive drug and research chemical that belongs to the indane family. It is structurally related to MDMA, a widely used recreational drug. NM-2-AI is known for its stimulant and entactogen properties.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

NM-2-AI is a derivative of aminoindane, a type of organic compound. It is specifically an N-alkylated form of 2-aminoindane, with a methyl group attached to the nitrogen atom of the aminoindane. This chemical structure is what gives NM-2-AI its unique properties.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

The exact mechanism of action of NM-2-AI is not fully understood. However, it is believed to act as a serotonin-norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (SNDRI), similar to other drugs in the aminoindane class. This means it increases the levels of these neurotransmitters in the brain by blocking their reuptake into neurons.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of NM-2-AI can vary greatly depending on the dose, the individual's physiology, and the context in which it's used. However, common effects reported by users include feelings of euphoria, increased energy, enhanced empathy and sociability, and altered perception of time. Some users also report experiencing negative effects such as anxiety, paranoia, and insomnia.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of NM-2-AI varies by country. In some countries, it is classified as a controlled substance, while in others it is legal to possess for personal use. It is always recommended to check the legal status in your specific location before purchasing or using NM-2-AI.
