Napakiak

Napakiak is a city located in the Bethel Census Area of the U.S. state of Alaska. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.0 square miles (13 km2), of which, 4.9 square miles (13 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) of it (2.61%) is water.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the census of 2000, there were 353 people, 76 households, and 64 families residing in the city. The population density was 72.0 people per square mile (27.8/km²). There were 85 housing units at an average density of 17.3/sq mi (6.7/km²).

Healthcare[edit | edit source]

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation provides health services in Napakiak. The Napakiak Clinic is a primary health facility. It is managed by a community health practitioner (CHP), a trained health care provider who delivers basic health care, including preventive care, health promotion, and urgent and emergency care.

Education[edit | edit source]

The Lower Kuskokwim School District operates the William N. Miller School in Napakiak. The school serves grades Pre-K through 12. The school's mascot is the Wildcat.

Transportation[edit | edit source]

Napakiak is not connected to any other cities by road. The primary means of transportation are by boat in the summer and snow machine in the winter. The city is served by the Napakiak Airport, a state-owned public-use airport.
