Natrona County, Wyoming
Natrona County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Wyoming. As of the 2020 census, the population was 79,955, making it the second-most populous county in Wyoming. The county seat is Casper, which is also the largest city in the county.

Natrona County was created on March 9, 1888, from portions of Carbon County. The county was named for the large deposits of natron, a naturally occurring sodium carbonate compound, found in the area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 5,376 square miles (13,920 km²), of which 5,340 square miles (13,800 km²) is land and 36 square miles (93 km²) (0.7%) is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 79,955 people, 32,013 households, and 20,497 families residing in the county. The population density was 15 people per square mile (5.8/km²). There were 34,915 housing units at an average density of 6 per square mile (2.3/km²).
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Natrona County is diverse, with significant contributions from the energy industry, agriculture, and tourism. The county is a major producer of oil, natural gas, and coal. Additionally, the Casper Mountain area is a popular destination for outdoor recreation.
Education[edit | edit source]
Natrona County is served by the Natrona County School District Number 1, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools. Higher education is provided by Casper College, a community college located in Casper.
