Nelson County, North Dakota
Nelson County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,895. Its county seat is Lakota. The county was created by the 1883 territorial legislature and named for N.E. Nelson of Dakota Territory, who was a member of the legislature at the time. The county government was first organized on June 4, 1883.

Nelson County is located in the northeastern part of North Dakota. It is bordered by Walsh County to the north, Grand Forks County to the east, Steele County to the southeast, Griggs County to the south, Eddy County to the southwest, and Benson County to the west.
Demographics[edit | edit source]
As of the 2020 census, there were 2,895 people, 1,236 households, and 790 families residing in the county. The population density was 4 people per square mile (2/km^2).
