Neoxanthin
Neoxanthin is a carotenoid that plays a significant role in the photosynthesis process and acts as an accessory pigment in plants. It is a xanthophyll, which means it contains oxygen and is part of a class of carotenoids that are more polar than their hydrocarbon relatives. Neoxanthin is involved in the light-harvesting complex of plants, capturing light energy and transferring it to chlorophyll to facilitate the conversion of light energy into chemical energy.
