New Delhi
New Delhi is the capital city of India, serving as the seat of all three branches of the Government of India. It also serves as the center of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. New Delhi is situated within the metropolis of Delhi and is one of the eleven districts of Delhi National Capital Territory.

The foundation of the city was laid by George V, Emperor of India during the Delhi Durbar of 1911. It was designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker. The new capital was inaugurated on 13 February 1931, by India's Viceroy Lord Irwin. New Delhi has been the capital of India since then.
Geography[edit | edit source]
New Delhi is located in the northern part of India. It sits on the Indo-Gangetic Plain, making it a hot and humid place in summer. The Yamuna River flows on the eastern edge of New Delhi. The city has a significant green cover compared to other major Indian cities.
Government and Politics[edit | edit source]
New Delhi is the political hub of India, housing the President's residence, the Parliament of India, and the Supreme Court of India. It is also the headquarters of several Indian government ministries and departments.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of New Delhi is a mix of traditional commerce, modern industries, and services. It is an important center for telecommunications, banking, media, and tourism. The city hosts the largest and most significant trade fairs and conventions in India.
