New Hartford is a town in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 22,166 at the 2020 census. The town of New Hartford contains a village named New Hartford. The town is adjacent to the city of Utica.

The town of New Hartford was established in 1827 from the town of Whitestown. It was named after Hartford, Connecticut, the origin of many of its early settlers.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 65.5 square kilometers, of which 65.3 square kilometers is land and 0.2 square kilometers is water.

As of the 2020 census, there were 22,166 people residing in the town. The population density was auto per square kilometer. The racial makeup of the town was predominantly White, with small percentages of other races.
