Nifoxipam
Nifoxipam is a benzodiazepine derivative that is used in the treatment of various medical conditions such as anxiety, insomnia, and seizures. It is a hypnotic drug that has a sedative effect on the body. Nifoxipam is a metabolite of flunitrazepam, a potent benzodiazepine.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Nifoxipam works by enhancing the effect of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that reduces the activity of neurons in the brain. By enhancing the effect of GABA, nifoxipam helps to calm the brain and reduce symptoms of anxiety and insomnia.
