Norgestomet
Norgestomet is a progestin medication which is used in veterinary medicine in cattle and other animals to control the estrous cycle. It is given by subcutaneous implant.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Norgestomet is a progestogen, or an agonist of the progesterone receptor. It has no androgen, estrogen, or glucocorticoid activity.
Chemistry[edit | edit source]
Norgestomet, also known as 11β-methyl-17α-acetoxy-19-norprogesterone, is a synthetic norsteroid and a derivative of progesterone. It is more specifically a derivative of 19-norprogesterone and 17α-hydroxyprogesterone, and is a member of the gestrinone and trenbolone family of progestins.

Norgestomet was introduced for veterinary use in the 1970s.

Norgestomet is marketed for veterinary use under the brand names Syncro-Mate B and Crestar.
