Norte, Portugal
Norte, Portugal is one of the five regions of Portugal, which includes the districts of Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, and Bragança. Norte is the most populous and economically active region in Portugal, and it is also one of the most industrialized regions in the country.

Norte is located in the northern part of Portugal, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and north, Centro to the south, and Spain to the east. The region is characterized by a varied landscape, with mountains, valleys, and a long coastline with beautiful beaches.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of Norte is diverse and dynamic, with a strong focus on industry, agriculture, and services. The region is home to many of Portugal's largest companies, including Sonae, Portugal Telecom, and Efacec. Norte is also a major wine-producing region, known for its Port and Vinho Verde wines.

Norte is rich in culture and history, with many monuments, museums, and festivals that reflect its heritage. The region is known for its distinctive music, dance, and cuisine. The Festa de São João, one of the biggest street festivals in Europe, takes place in Porto every June.

The cuisine of Norte is diverse and flavorful, with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. The region is known for its seafood, particularly bacalhau, a type of salted cod. Other popular dishes include francesinha, a sandwich made with bread, wet-cured ham, linguiça, fresh sausage, steak or roast meat, and covered with melted cheese and a hot thick tomato and beer sauce, and caldo verde, a popular soup made with potatoes, collard greens, and chorizo.
