Oheneba Boachie-Adjei
Oheneba Boachie-Adjei is a renowned orthopedic surgeon and founder of the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS). He was born on December 16, 1950, in Kumasi, Ghana. He is known for his significant contributions to the field of spinal surgery and his dedication to providing orthopedic care to underserved populations.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Boachie-Adjei was born in Kumasi, Ghana. He moved to the United States in 1972 and completed his undergraduate studies at Brooklyn College. He then attended the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he earned his medical degree.
Career[edit]
Boachie-Adjei completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. He then completed a fellowship in spinal surgery and scoliosis at the Twin Cities Scoliosis Center in Minneapolis and the HSS.
In 1994, Boachie-Adjei founded the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive orthopedic care to patients in underserved communities in Ghana and other parts of Africa.

Boachie-Adjei has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, including the Humanitarian Award from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has also been recognized by the Scoliosis Research Society and the International Society for the Study and Advancement of Spinal Surgery.
