Oligoamenorrhea

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Oligoamenorrhea is a condition characterized by infrequent or light menstrual periods. A woman is considered to have oligomenorrhea if she has fewer than 8 menstrual cycles per year, or if her menstrual cycles are longer than 35 days. Oligomenorrhea can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal imbalances, certain medical conditions, and certain medications. In some cases, the cause of oligomenorrhea is unknown. Treatment for oligomenorrhea depends on the underlying cause and may include medications, lifestyle changes, or surgery.
