Oye Owolewa

Oye Owolewa is an American politician and pharmacist who serves as the Shadow Representative for the District of Columbia. He was elected to this position in the 2020 general election. Owolewa is a member of the Democratic Party.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Owolewa was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He is of Nigerian descent. Owolewa attended Northeastern University, where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Career[edit | edit source]

Before entering politics, Owolewa worked as a pharmacist. He has been involved in various community service activities and advocacy for healthcare access.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Owolewa ran for the position of Shadow Representative for the District of Columbia in the 2020 election. The role of the Shadow Representative is to advocate for D.C. statehood and to represent the interests of D.C. residents in the United States Congress, although the position does not have voting rights.

Owolewa resides in Washington, D.C. and continues to be active in community service and advocacy.
